Tony® Award winner Daisy Eagan joins the cast of Ghostlight at NYMF
Daisy Eagan, who is the youngest actress to ever win a Tony Award, will make her long awaited return to the New York stage in the new musical Ghostlight. According to press notes "Ghostlight excavates the true story of Olive Thomas, a small-town girl who rises to headline alongside Fanny Brice in the Ziegfeld Follies. Seduced by the decadent world of the theater, Olive stumbles into a secret affair, an unfulfilling Hollywood marriage, and a downward spiral into drugs and alcohol. An homage to Broadway's Golden Age, Ghostlight captures the glamorous and tragic lives of those who changed the face of the American musical forever." Eagan will play the role of Molly Cook, Olive's best friend and fellow showgirl, who ultimately unleashes a major secret.
Making her New York debut in the central role of Olive Thomas is Rachael Fogle (National Tour of Broadway's Little Women). Fogle has also appeared as Olive in two previous readings of Ghostlight.
The principal cast also includes Barrymore Award Nominee Matt Leisy (currently starring in Off-Broadway's The Fantasticks) as Olive's husband, Jack Pickford and Kimberly Faye Greenberg (star of Off-Broadway's One Night With Fanny Brice and Danny and Sylvia) as the legendary Fanny Brice. The rest of the principal cast and ensemble will be announced shortly.
Ghostlight has a book, music and lyrics by Matthew Martin and Tim Realbuto, who will also serve as the show's co-directors. Choreography is by Michael Kidney. The show's musical director is Matt Aument. Scenic and lighting design is by David Goldstein. Elvin Roytman is the Producing Advisor and Massimine/Roytman/Presentations will serve as the General Manager.
Eagan won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden. Her other Broadway credits include Les Miserables and James Joyce's The Dead. Her film and TV credits include Losing Isaiah, Ripe, Tony n' Tina's Wedding, "Without a Trace", "Ghost Whisperer", "Numb3rs" and "The Unit". She also won an LA Weekly Award for her performance in The Wild Party at The Blank Theatre Company.
Ghostlight, presented by Everybody's Sweetheart Productions, LLC and NYMF, runs September 26th-October 9th at the Signature Theatre (555 West 42nd Street). Visit www.ghostlightthemusical.com for tickets and more information.
